DE: Taylour Tedder Signs Groundbreaking Contract in Rehoboth Beach; includes a $750,000 home loan that is forgivable after seven years

Joe Turner, host of the City Manager Unfiltered podcast, and Waco City Manager Bradley Ford sat down and deconstructed the contract for an upcoming podcast episode that will be released on Wednesday, April 17th. MN: Disappointed Anoka County Board extends recruitment after DDA Resources can’t find one single qualified candidate

It’s a bad day at the office when you specialize in Minnesota public sector recruitments and you can’t locate a single qualified applicant according to the governing body.

“None of the 10 candidates are qualified to run a county this size,” said Commissioner Scott Schulte, who saw no reason to interview any of them. “I don’t see them fitting this position and it would be unfair to our employees.”

Commissioner Mandy Meisner was “not impressed” by the candidates either.

All 10 candidates were ‘very disappointing” and “I don’t think they could do the job,” said Commissioner Julie Braastad.

Later a motion was made and voted on to dismiss the Carthage City Administrator, Greg Dagnan. The majority voted to dismiss him as a city employee during the open meeting. Mayor Dan Rife said he had to approve it along with the council and he would not.

A motion to hire three attorneys who would produce opinions on the matter by April 26th was passed.

Last year’s abrupt firing of former El Paso City Manager Tommy Gonzalez has left in its wake paralysis in many city departments, prompting high-level resignations, say city officials interviewed by El Paso Inc.

The firing of Gonzalez was a political pissing match — not a well thought out decision about what was best for the organization or the residents and taxpayers of El Paso. And now they are paying for it.

And then they compounded the problem by hiring Baker Tilly to conduct the recruitment. Baker Tilly has a history of withholding important information from candidates and many simply will not apply for their recruitments.

Incompetent mayor tried to unilaterally fire the city manager who only had 8 months left on her contract. Now the manager is walking out with 14 months of salary plus a buyout of 6 months worth of PTO for a total of $444,000. On top of that — the manager may be eligible for lifetime health insurance. Cha-ching!

MN: Brooklyn Park Seeks Changes to Public Comment Rules

The city is considering a policy to restrict its public comment to residents, as well as owners, employees or board members of Brooklyn Park businesses and organizations.

Cities are not required to offer public comment during meetings. A sampling of cities across the Twin Cities shows a wide variety of procedures.

The city of Maplewood, for instance, does not offer public comment on its agenda. Others, like the city of Bloomington, do not televise public comment. Some cities, like Coon Rapids and Champlin, offer a public comment period at the end of its meetings. The city of Brooklyn Center offers an open forum similar to Brooklyn Park.
