BUSTED & CAUGHT ON VIDEO! Summerfield Town Manager Twig Rollins’ “Bait & Switch” Scheme Exposed

A couple of days ago I broke the story that Summerfield town manager Charles “Twig” Rollins was the subject of a consumer watchdog investigative report conducted by a news station in Wilmington, North Carolina back in 2008.

A viewer called the tip line to report the unethical and shady business practices of Rollins who engaged in slimy “bait and switch” tactics designed to mislead and take advantage of customers.

He would advertise mattresses at ridiculously low prices. Customers would call him and he would confirm the price but by the time they drove over to make a purchase the mattresses were always sold out. Of course, Rollins would offer up another mattress at a higher price hoping to secure the sale once the customers had arrived and been duped.

An anonymous source got their hands on this video and sent it to me for your viewing pleasure:

It is unclear how long Rollins operated this sleezy business. This report was from late 2008 and Rollins posted about the mattress business in the latter part of 2009 on his Twitter account.

However, by 2012, Rollins had moved on to peddling an MLM insurance product to friends and families.

The 60-year old town manager overseeing a multi-million dollar budget only shows his work history going back to 2020 on his LinkedIn page.

We have asked the Summerfield town council to release the resume and cover letter Rollins submitted when he applied for the job so that we can verify the accuracy of the document. We have also asked the council to address whether a comprehensive background check was conducted before extending Rollins an offer.

Last week, an anonymous source sent us an online background check that appears to be of Rollins. The documents show numerous evictions, judgments, and liens exceeding $60,000 in unpaid debts to small businesses and the State of North Carolina.

This is the kind of person the Summerfield town council put in charge of millions of dollars.

  1. Thank you for covering this, Joe. I personally appreciate the efforts you have made.

Our Town of Summerfield Town Council owes us some explanations and to show us the resume and background checks they reviewed during the hiring process.

We had a great former town manager. This current council is going to cause the loss of our town charter by sheer ineptitude. The town and individuals have been wounded by their “leadership”.
